OUR MEDICAL TEAM
MEET THE PSYCHIATRISTS AND DOCTORS BEHIND YOUR RECOVERY
When a family reaches out to a rehabilitation center, one of the first questions they ask is: who will actually be treating my son, my brother, my husband? That is a fair question, and it deserves a direct answer.
At AMAR Home, the doctors on your care team are not consultants who appear once a week. They are active, practicing psychiatrists and physicians who work at Bangladesh’s leading medical institutions. They bring clinical training from BMU and Dhaka University, and they carry that same standard of care into every session at AMAR Home.
Below, you will find the psychiatrists, physicians, and medical staff who guide treatment at our center. Their credentials are real, their registration numbers are verifiable with BMDC, and their involvement in patient care is direct.
Dr. Chiranjeeb Biswas
MBBS, MPhil (Psychiatry) | BSMMU | BMDC Reg: A 49670 Associate Professor and Head of Department of Psychiatry, Medical College for Women & Hospital (MCW&H)
Dr. Biswas leads the psychiatry department at MCW&H and brings academic and clinical depth to every case at AMAR Home. He focuses on dual diagnosis cases where addiction and underlying mental health conditions exist together, an area where many centers struggle to provide adequate care.
Dr. Mohammad Shibli Sadiq
MBBS (Dhaka), MD Psychiatry | BSMMU | BMDC Reg: A 34144 Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Life Member, Bangladesh Association of Psychiatrists | International Member, American Psychiatric Association
Dr. Sadiq brings a calm, structured approach to psychiatric care. He serves at NIMH, one of Bangladesh’s most respected mental health institutions, and brings that institutional rigour directly into AMAR Home’s treatment planning. His membership in the American Psychiatric Association means his practice stays current with global evidence-based standards.
Dr. A.F.M. Masudur Rahman
MBBS (Dhaka), PGT (Psychiatry) | BMDC Reg: A-53896 Medical Officer, AMAR Home Drug Addiction Treatment Center
Dr. Rahman is the on-ground medical officer at AMAR Home. He oversees the detoxification process, conducts daily clinical assessments, and coordinates between the psychiatric team and the patient’s recovery plan. Families often tell us he is the first person who made their loved one feel medically safe during those difficult first days.
Dr. Nagma Hareem Afriecq
MBBS, CCD, FMD | Diabetologist and General Physician | BMDC Reg: A 12470 Physician, AMAR Home Drug Addiction Treatment Center
Long-term substance use affects the body in ways that go well beyond the brain. Dr. Afriecq monitors the physical health of every patient throughout their stay, particularly those with metabolic and chronic conditions that need active management alongside addiction treatment. Her presence ensures no patient’s physical health is treated as secondary to their recovery.

WHY CHOOSING A REHAB CENTER NEAR UTTARA ACTUALLY MATTERS
Most families do not think about geography when choosing a rehab center. They should.
When the initial crisis hits, the ability to reach the center fast matters enormously. Addiction crises do not follow convenient timing. A patient who agrees to go to treatment at 11 PM needs to be in the door before the moment of willingness passes. A center 45 minutes away in Mirpur traffic is not the same as a center 10 minutes away in Uttara.
Beyond admission day, location matters for families too. Monthly counseling visits, monthly family meetings, and post-discharge follow-up visits are all easier when the center is close to where you live and work.
About 55% of AMAR Home’s admitted patients come from inside Dhaka. A significant portion of those are from Uttara itself and the surrounding areas of Sector 7, Sector 10, Sector 11, Azampur, Diabari, Nikunja, and Khilkhet. We know this community.
WHERE EXACTLY IS AMAR HOME IN UTTARA?
Our center is at:
House 46, Road 2, Sector 9, Uttara Model Town, Dhaka-1230
Sector 9 is one of the quieter, more residential parts of Uttara. The surrounding neighborhood is calm, structured, and appropriate for a residential treatment facility. Patients are not in a busy commercial area. They are in a proper residential setting that supports the recovery environment.
Getting here from key Uttara locations:
Uttara Sector 7, 10, or 11: 5 to 10 minutes by car
Abdullahpur: 10 to 12 minutes
Azampur: 8 to 10 minutes
Airport Road (Nikunja): 12 to 15 minutes
Khilkhet: 15 minutes
Tongi (Gazipur border): 20 to 25 minutes
Mirpur via Turag: 25 to 30 minutes
Families from Gazipur, Ashulia, Savar, and Narsingdi also reach us regularly. Uttara is geographically positioned as the most accessible point for patients coming from north Dhaka and surrounding districts.
ADDICTION TYPES WE TREAT AT OUR UTTARA FACILITY
Yaba Addiction Treatment in Uttara
Yaba is the most common addiction we treat. Approximately 45% of our current admissions involve yaba dependency. In the Uttara and north Dhaka corridor, yaba access is unfortunately widespread, particularly among young working men between the ages of 20 and 35. Yaba withdrawal involves intense psychological distress, sleep disruption, depression, and in some cases paranoia or aggression. Managing this safely requires 24-hour medical supervision. Our resident medical officer and paramedic team are on-site around the clock specifically for this.
Heroin and Opioid Addiction Treatment in Uttara
Heroin dependency carries the highest medical risk of any substance we treat during the withdrawal phase. Patients from Uttara, Azampur, Tongi, and Gazipur have come to us over the years in various stages of opioid dependency, many after failed attempts to stop on their own. Medical detox for heroin requires careful clinical management. Our team does not rush this phase. The 15-day detox period exists because that is what the clinical evidence supports for safe, effective withdrawal management.
Alcohol Addiction Treatment in Uttara
Alcohol dependency is often the most hidden addiction we treat. Many families in Uttara come to us after years of managing a loved one's drinking privately. Alcohol withdrawal can be medically dangerous and should never be attempted abruptly without supervision. We have treated patients from well-established residential areas of Uttara and surrounding zones who sought help only after the situation became impossible to manage at home.
Sleeping Pill and Sedative Dependency
Prescription sedative dependency is growing and is common among professionals, particularly those with high-stress jobs in the Uttara, Uttara DOHS, and Nikunja areas. Many patients began with a legitimate prescription and crossed into dependency without recognizing the line. Our medically supervised tapering protocol is the safest approach. Stopping abruptly is clinically dangerous. We manage this transition carefully over the detox phase.
Cannabis and Prescription Drug Misuse
Cannabis dependency and prescription drug misuse are also treated at our Uttara center. These are often dismissed as less serious, but long-term heavy use causes measurable psychological damage that requires structured clinical intervention.
OTHER REHAB CENTERS IN UTTARA: HOW AMAR HOME COMPARES
There are several addiction treatment facilities in the Uttara area. PHERA, Empathy, and a few smaller centers operate in or near Uttara Model Town. Here is what separates AMAR Home specifically.
We have been at Sector 9 since 2012
That is 13 years of continuous operation at the same address, in the same community. 1,154 patients have gone through our programs. We follow up every single one by phone every two years. Our 55% measured sobriety rate at two years is a real number, not a marketing claim.
We are ISO 9001:2015 certified for addiction treatment services
This certification was independently issued by ASSIST Certification Services (ACS), accredited by the Accred Services International Board Europe (ASIB). It covers our clinical assessment, counseling, guidance, and treatment processes. Very few rehab centers in Uttara or anywhere in Bangladesh hold this independently verified quality certification.
Our holistic treatment model is genuinely different
While most centers in the Uttara area focus on standard residential detox and group therapy, AMAR Home integrates yoga, meditation, sound healing, and our Dopamine Diet nutrition approach into the clinical program. These are not marketing additions. They are part of our structured treatment protocol aligned with the Therapeutic Community model, through our FTCA membership.
We are honest about outcomes
We do not promise 100% recovery. We tell you our actual follow-up data. That honesty is unusual in this sector, and we think it matters

PRACTICAL INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES IN THE UTTARA AREA
Can I visit before making a decision?
Yes. We actively encourage families to visit the center before making any commitment. Seeing the facility, speaking with our admission coordinator in person, and getting a direct feel for the environment is always better than making a decision over the phone. Our center is open for family visits during consultation hours. Call +8801976-131313 to schedule a visit.
How quickly can admission happen after the first call?
Once the initial consultation is done and the family agrees to the program, admission can typically happen within 24 to 48 hours. We do not put families through long waiting processes when a patient is in active crisis. If the situation is urgent, say so during the first call. We will prioritize accordingly.
What if the patient is currently in a nearby hospital?
If your family member is currently admitted to a hospital in the Uttara area, such as Uttara Adhunik Medical College Hospital, Ibn Sina, or any other facility, and the medical team is recommending addiction treatment after stabilization, contact us directly. We can coordinate a smooth transfer once the patient is medically ready for residential rehab.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR REHAB CENTER IN UTTARA
Where exactly is AMAR Home located in Uttara?
AMAR Home is located at House 46, Road 2, Sector 9, Uttara Model Town, Dhaka-1230. Sector 9 is a residential area within Uttara, easily reachable from all major sectors and neighboring areas including Azampur, Abdullahpur, Khilkhet, and Nikunja. Google Maps directions are available on our contact page.
Is AMAR Home the only licensed rehab center in Uttara?
No. There are other addiction treatment facilities in the Uttara area. AMAR Home is distinct in holding both a DNC license and an ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification, operating since 2012, and maintaining a two-year patient follow-up protocol. Families are encouraged to compare centers before deciding. A full breakdown of our credentials is on our accreditations page.
Do you treat patients from outside Uttara?
Yes. While we are physically located in Uttara, we treat patients from across Dhaka, from outside Dhaka, and from international locations. Around 35% of our patient intake comes from outside Dhaka. 10% come from abroad. Our Uttara location is simply the physical center. The program serves anyone who needs it.
Is there parking available near the center?
Yes. Road 2, Sector 9 has adequate space for family vehicles during admission and visit days. If you are coming by rickshaw or CNG from nearby areas, the center is easily reachable through the Sector 9 internal roads.
Can I come without an appointment to inquire?
We recommend calling first so our admission coordinator is available to speak with you properly. Walk-in inquiries are possible during working hours, but a scheduled conversation gives the family a better experience and more time for questions.
What happens during the first visit to the center?
You meet our admission coordinator. She asks about the patient’s addiction history, current physical and mental state, family situation, and any previous treatment history. Based on that, she recommends the appropriate program and explains the full process, costs, and what to expect on admission day. There is no pressure or commitment required during the first visit.
How do families from Uttara typically hear about AMAR Home?
Through word of mouth, primarily. Many of our Uttara-based families were referred by other families whose family members completed treatment with us. Some find us through Google search for treatment centers in the area. Some are referred by doctors at nearby hospitals who know our work. A few come through community organizations active in the Uttara zone.
If you were referred by someone, feel free to mention that during your call. It helps us understand your context.
